Urban Data Summit

The Data Competence Centre for Cities and Regions (DKSR) is organising the Urban Data Summit (UDS) on 17 April as part of the 3rd Data Week Leipzig 2024. Relevant municipal stakeholders will come together at the UDS to exchange ideas on sustainable municipal design based on data and digitalisation as well as to discuss corresponding measures. The programme consists of several lectures and a workshop, among others with the City of Leipzig.

Our highlight events of the past months

On 8 February, a theme day was held in Stuttgart on the benefits of data spaces in the cross-domain value chain. The focus was on discussing the various aspects and offerings of data marketplaces and their synergy potential.

A central point was trust, which is an important component for progress in data exchange. Given the multitude of data spaces and initiatives currently emerging, interoperability is of great importance. It makes it possible to find common ground in terms of standards, technology and governance.

In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Transport Alliance and Deutsche Bahn, MDS hosted a community event on "Intermodal Mobility" on 29 November in Berlin. Together, we delved deep into the world of data-based approaches for a sustainable mobility transition to explore the fundamentals, challenges and solutions.

At Digital Summit 2023, held under the theme "Digital transformation in the new era: Sustainable. Resilient. Future-orientated", more than 1,000 participants from politics, business, science and civil society met in Jena on 20 and 21 November 2023. The aim was to discuss the key challenges and solutions related to this important topic.

As part of the summit, the MDS organised a workshop with MDS Members entitled "Talk 'n' Pitch - In the digital laboratory of the Mobility Data Space". In this workshop, digital applications and solutions for sustainable mobility were intensively discussed and developed.

IAA MOBILITY is the world's largest and most important mobility trade fair, held every two years in Munich. It offers manufacturers, suppliers, technology companies, service providers and start-ups a wide range of opportunities to present themselves and their services to a broad international B2B and B2C audience. The MDS was represented at the IAA from 5 to 10 September 2023 at the Bayern Innovativ stand.

The third MDS members event, hosted by Mercedes-Benz AG, took place on 3 May 2023 at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The theme of the event was "Paving the way for an all-electric future - with the power of data". It offered MDS attendees a unique opportunity to gain interesting insights into the future of electric mobility. In addition to exciting presentations, there were also vehicle tests and a guided tour of the museum.
